We are grateful to have such active participation by our parents and friends in our children’s school and education. We know time is precious and hard to find.  Please give thoughtful consideration as to how you might participate in our school.  No time is too little to give! We need you.

Staying Connected

Directory (Sept.)
Perfect for a person who’s great with excel and some quick formatting. Work over a few weeks’ time.

Room Parent Coordinator (all year)
Facilitate communication to the Room Parents from the front office/PTA, perfect for an organized person who is available/responsive to email daily. 

Room Parent (all year)
Contact your teacher immediately. Ideal for a responsive & organized person(s) with frequent email access; often a pair of parents works best.
1. Our Room Parent Coordinator forwards messages to you; you send to your specific class.
2. Work/coordinate with your teacher for classroom events; a liaison to both the teacher and the class families.

Social Ambassador (all year)
Are you super social? Just repost our Riderwood Instagram and Facebook posts.  A quick share is all we need. Keep our community in the know!

HUGE Rewards

Back to School Picnic (Sept.)
Help execute the kickoff event of the year – so fun!  Organize Chick-fil-A, snacks, and drinks.

Assemblies (all year)
Assisting with assemblies as needed by Riderwood staff

Movie Night (Oct.)
Help spreading the word about the event, assist with set up and break down, and possibly other night-of tasks.

Book Fair (during AmEd Week)
Help with ordering items, set up and break down, and helping students shop during Book Fair week.

Winter Breakfast (Dec.)
The Winter Breakfast is a great time to come grab coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts, and enjoy games and crafts! Also, this year we are collaborating with Amazing Glaze to offer ornament decorating! 

Annual Adult Social & Fundraiser
Plan for a late Winter/early Spring event. Perfect for a group of friends or to make some new friends! It’s a grown-ups only night out with food, drinks and lots of auction/raffle items to raise money for programming and resources. Teachers, Parents and Administration attend. This is the most impactful event of the year!

Orioles Family Night (May)
Coordinate ticket sales for a Riderwood group

Lillemoe Scholarship (Mar-May)
Someone to receive, organize and review applications for this Riderwood 
scholarship for former RES grad and HS senior attending college next Fall. 
Confidentiality is a must. This parent cannot have an applicant.

Making Memories!

School Spirit Shop (all year):
Keep our raccoons ROCKIN’ the cool threads; you will have spirit gear available including class t-shirts and sweatshirts at 2-3 big school events. 

Yearbook (all year):
Collect pictures submitted by parents from 1st day of school to theme days and use the planning tool to design a yearbook your children won’t forget.  All the tools are provided. Parents: please send photos / grade / student & teacher name to riderwoodyearbook@gmail.com throughout the year.

Art Show (Spring)
Assist Mrs. Witte, Art teacher, with school-wide show. Planning, set up and decorating of exhibits. A great way to meet new people; lots of hands make quick work.

School Play (Spring)
Assist Mrs. Hall, vocal music, with practices, organizing students, decorations and costumes. Afterschool. 

Field Day (May)
Help Dr. Savage, PE, with games, activities and volunteer planning.  During school.

Garden (all year)

Monitor the upkeep of the flower beds in front of the main entrance and Kindergarten entrance. Organize volunteers to clean up and maintain – quarterly. 

Teacher Appreciation (May)
Coordinate TA week and luncheon.

5th Grade Farewell (May prep for June grad)
4th Grade Parent needed. 
A long tradition at Riderwood, it’s the honor of a few 4th grade parents to plan the decorations, little snack treats and celebration to say goodbye to our 5th grade graduates. A few volunteers needed for the day of.

5th Grade Video Montage (all year)
Gather photos / videos of our 5th graders from K through 5th to celebrate them during the Farewell. A very special tribute indeed.
